Don't Blink!

Do Not Blink! : A Get Ready, Get Set, Go! An OSR adventure. Thanks to the Doctor!

Get Ready:
The players hear of a ruined temple that contains a magical artifact whilst in a road side inn. They get a crude map from a traveling bard there, who has told them the tale of the temple and treasure.

Get Set:
The Temple of Fallen Angels was, at one time, a very popular destination for pilgrims from all over Eberacum. About 400 years ago a secret society resolved to deposit their treasury there for safekeeping. The hoard contains a magic sword, Hammer of Angels, and was eventually forgotten after the Temple’s destruction during a war between ancient powers.

Go!:
The way to the temple leads through an ancient wood. The wood is populated by the usual kinds of woodland monsters and creatures. These are left up to the DMs discretion. Once there, the party finds most of the temple campus in ruins, but the sanctuary is mostly intact. The treasure is concealed in a secret treasury under the altar and is watched over by four statues in the shape of weeping angels. The catch is that these are not actually statues, but creatures. The creatures have a reflexive defence that freezed them in place when someone is watching them. They are incredibly fast and silent, so if the observer even blinks it allows the statues to get closer and closer. If a PC is struck in a hand to hand attack by an angel, they must save verses death or be transported to another, random time period. This will, of course offer interesting adventure material should all the PCs go to the same time. The only way to defeat the statues is either to flee (and hence be persued for the rest of their lives) or to trick the angels into places where they are watching each other. The DM can decide what effects spells like Wizard Eye and Scrye have on them.

Notable NPCs:
Aethelgar Scop, bard with average states and abilitites.
The Weeping Angels. Most stats are unimportant. 9HD, 19Dex.
